Trailer Music Information

Ever wonder what music cue was used for a particular trailer?
Sometimes the answer is in the YouTube comments, but here are some more resources:

  • Trailer Music Weekly - YouTube channel that posted videos with the music from trailers (no longer updated).

  • Soundtrack.net - An extensive archive of music info for trailers.

  • Adtunes.com - Forum for sharing information about trailer music.

Trailer Music Companies

High end trailer music companies operate on “needle-drop” licensing agreements which means music cues are licensed on a per use basis. Unlike sites like Premiumbeat.com, there’s no library that you simply purchase and then use willy nilly. That said, the music does get out there, and some of the sites now have flexible licensing options for people with lower budgets or decide not to monetize their videos. Here are some examples that I know of (if you know of more, please let me know!)

  • Immediate Music - Professional trailer music library that allows non-monetized use on YouTube for free

  • Position Music - Professional trailer music library with flexible license options including for YouTubers

  • Audiomachine - Professional trailer music library with flexible license options including for YouTubers

Trailer Music YouTube Channels

There are also fan YouTube channels that somehow get their hands on high end trailer music. But if you want to legally use any of this music in your videos you have to contact the original creators!
